Sustainable sourcing of Diamonds

Diamonds are one of the most precious and sought-after gemstones in the world. Diamonds are valued for their exceptional hardness, brilliance, and fire, as well as their rarity. They are largely used in jewelry, but are also used in industrial applications, such as cutting tools and abrasives.

The value of a diamond is determined by the "4 Cs" – color, clarity, cut, and carat weight. The color of a diamond can range from colorless to yellow, with colorless diamonds being the most valuable. Clarity refers to the presence of any internal or external flaws, while the cut determines how well the diamond reflects light. Carat weight is the measure of a diamond's size and weight.

Diamond mining and production can have negative environmental and social impacts, and efforts are being made to ensure that the diamond industry is more sustainable and responsible. Sustainable diamond mining creates a win-win situation for everyone involved, including the communities, miners, and the environment. It helps ensure that the diamond mining industry remains sustainable and profitable for the long term while promoting responsible and ethical practices.

Colored Diamonds

Rarity and Unique Characteristics

Colored diamonds are a type of diamond that have a natural hue or color. Unlike traditional white diamonds, which are graded on a colorless scale, colored diamonds are graded on their intensity and tone of color. The most common colors of diamonds are yellow, brown, and gray. However, diamonds can also be found in a wide range of colors including blue, green, pink, red, purple, and even black.

The color of a diamond is the result of various factors including the presence of impurities or structural defects in the crystal lattice of the diamond. The rarest and most valuable colored diamonds are intense or vivid in their color and come in large sizes, such as the famous pink diamond, the Graff Pink, which sold for over $46 million.

Colored diamonds are often more expensive than white diamonds due to their rarity and unique characteristics. They are often used in high-end jewelry and are highly sought after by collectors. The market for colored diamonds has grown significantly in recent years, with many investors seeing them as a valuable asset.

Buying Rough Diamonds

Documentation for import

Many countries requires a Kimberley Process (KP) Certificate for each shipment of rough diamonds, and a document stating the origin of the diamonds for polished stones. We will take care of the process by applying for these documents through our local KP authority.

We use a customs broker listed through the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA). A customs broker is a licensed professional who can assist with clearing goods through customs. They can help with the required paperwork, ensure compliance with import regulations, and arrange for payment of duties and taxes. These documents include the KP Certificate, invoice, packing list, and any other relevant documents.

Overall, the whole process can take a few days up to two months before arriving to the final destination. If the diamonds are being shipped by air, the shipping time can be as little as a few days. However, if the diamonds are being shipped by sea, it can take several weeks or even months. The customs clearance process can also add to the shipping time, as customs will need to inspect and verify the necessary documents before releasing the shipment. We work with reliable shipping companies and customs brokers to ensure that the diamonds are transported safely and efficiently.

How to Buy from us

Certified Lab Reports, Detailed Description, High-Res Images, and Competitive Pricing

Certified lab reports, such as those from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Guberlin, or the International Gemological Institute (IGI), provide an objective assessment of the diamond's quality and characteristics. Certified lab reports provide an independent verification of the diamond's characteristics, including its color, clarity, and cut.

Our clients' needs depends on whether they are a wholesaler, retailer, luxury jeweler, brokers, or private clients. First, determine the types of diamonds you are looking for, including the size, quality, and quantity. Next, read the lab reports and inspect the diamond in person to ensure that it meets your expectations. Once you have agreed on a price, you will need to make the purchase. This involves paying with a wire transfer, or a credit card.
